Most of these organizations offer very inexpensive Student membership dues. You usually get a publication or so, discounts on annual conferences, and it's a great way to network with others who share your professional interests!

 

American Psychological Association (APA) - The main APA site.

 

APA Division 19 - APA's division for Military Psychology

 

APA Division 21 - APA's division for Engineering Psychology

 

Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) - This is the main organization that our Student Chapter belongs to.

 

Human Performance in Extreme Environments (HPEE) - An interdisciplinary forum for researchers, scientists, and professionals with expertise in the area of human performance and behavior in complex and high-stress environments.

 

ACM - The Association for Computing Machinery

 

SIG CHI - A Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) , which focuses on Computer Human Interaction.

 

Society for Technical Communication (STC) - This is for technical writers/communicators, focusing on making documents and instructions more user-friendly.

 

Usability Professionals Association (UPA) - Promotes user-centered design.
